Hello everybody! I'm losing my mind... and I'm a little dizzy too. That's beside the point though. Today, I want to talk about our game and what it teaches. Our games Ideals concept is how America came to be. Most people couldn't understand a lot about Lewis and Clark's journey across the United States. Lewis and Clark were said to have been the first men to set foot in the Western United States. They also helped to build the America that we live in today. It's more important than most people think. Our game also teaches that they helped build peace between the Native Americans. We teach that through our scrolls which we put in the levels to collect. At the end of the game, you get a quiz based on what you learned. It's a pretty simple method of teaching. If you want to learn about the journey further, go here .

Civics Blog (Wassup)

Wazzup! Josh is back! Today, I want to talk about civic information reliability, or something like that. On television, you can find many sources of civics including the news, law enforcement, court, and others like that. Though, it depends on what you can rely on that tells the truth. For instance, I watch the "O' Reilly Factor" on TV with my grandparents because we can all trust that show to give us the truth. It is easy to take the false truths, in some cases, 'hook, line, and sinker'. If anyone is trying to find the true resources, I'd start by watching the news and then move on to the courts. From there, you can go anywhere. You could even watch law enforcement, such as "Law and Order", or news and debating, such as the "O' Reilly Factor". It's all good. Hello! This is Josh again! Today, I want to discuss a game made by another team. I'm talking about "The Muffin Tanks". Their game is called "Survival of the Smartest" and they go to South Harrison High School. In their game, I see a lot of differences between the Paper Prototype and the actual demo. Like, for instance, the character in the Paper Prototype is an actual person, but in the demo, he's a stick figure. The enemies in the Paper Prototype are fully drawn monsters whereas the enemies in the demo are stick figures. The scenes are different too, but I'm not going to get into all that. I think that the changes that they've made are better than the original idea. As a fellow game designer, I say that these changes have definitely helped the games originality and fun factors. I also think that they don't need to change the demo any more because it's awesome the way it is. Good luck to all of you!

Hello all you noobs! This is Josh, the one and only, and I want to talk about a game which I think can go pretty far. I'm speaking of the game called "I Object!". The team that created it is called "The Things" and they have only one member, who's name is Damien. I personally think that he's done a good job on his own. He's gotten this far on that game, which looks promising, and I'd like to see more of it. Great job Damien! "The Things" go to Greenbrier East High School. When we were working on the paper prototype, we were discussing what the game should be about. I wanted a Mario-style game, and that's when Clyde made the idea to make it about Lewis and Clark. It sounded good, so we went for it. After a while, the prototype started to form the game. If it hadn't been for our discussion, the game wouldn't be here. I'm just glad that it turned out okay. And just for the record, it was pretty fun making the prototype. Everybody needs to discuss in order to have a successful game. I guess this is a good lesson to teach. Wassup! This is your boy, Josh, and I'm back with an awesome, pumpin' vibe! I have no idea where that came from, but I'm going to come right out and say why I did that. I'm going to be in Law Day 2010, armed with an awesome rap. Yeah, that about sums it up. Back to the subject. Today, I'm going to discuss the prompt that Ms. Barker gave us. A few weeks ago, we all presented our game presentations to people in Charleston and New York. I personally think it went rather well, even if the PowerPoint didn't load. Let's just say I didn't block my creative mind from putting animations and transitions. It didn't load after almost 20 min. That's bad. I made up the presentation on the spot for people in Charleston and New York. I need credit for that. Still, it went pretty good and they helped me point out some mistakes that I made in the game. They also gave me some tips to boost the game. So, instead of going from left to right, I'm going from right to left. I'm doing this so that it looks like you're going West. How well do you believe the average citizen understands US ideals?

I believe that the average citizen does not fully understand the US ideals. You really need to dig up history to fully understand the ideals of the US. When I say 'dig up', I mean that you need to research the history of America and how it came to be the way it is today. It is important that you know this stuff because if you don't know, you won't understand hardly anything about this country. Let's use Lewis and Clark as an example. They helped to spread many new things across the US, including the laws. They discovered many places and helped to shape the ground on which we stand. I think it's important to understand how crucial their journey really was. Either way, it's important to know about such things because it's these certain events that shaped our country into the way it is today. It is kind of like a Mario-style platform game but it has the Lewis and Clark twist to it. I think it's a good idea and that it could go a long way if we try hard enough. My Research

I did some research on Lewis and Clark and learned a lot about them.

Meriwether Lewis:

Born August 18, 1774, Meriwether Lewis was only 29 years old when he was asked by President Thomas Jefferson to head the expedition. Lewis accepted and, in turn, asked his army friend, William Clark, to act as the expedition's captain.

William Clark:

Born August 1, 1770, Clark was the youngest of six sons and the youngest brother of George Rogers Clark, the hero of the American Revolution in the West. He was 33 years old when asked by Meriwether Lewis to help head the expedition.

Through a website, which I will put in a link right here, I learned enough information about them that I can shape the game based on the information. I learned about how the journey started, how the journey went, what they did, how, how they met Sacajawea, and how it ended. I hope I can learn more soon. Oodbyegay!

So far I've gotten to the title screen and finished the loading screen. I'm working on adding sound to the title screen so it looks cooler. When it comes down to it, I've just started on the process of creating the game into it's true form. My units have been going well. I've made quite a number of buttons and animations. Right now I'm on the Adding Sound unit and I can't figure out what sound to put on the title screen. It's hard to find the right sound for people like me. I hope we can win the competition at the end of the year because I'm really getting down to business on our game. Well, good luck to everybody! (Boil'em Mash'em Stick'em in a stew. POTATOES!)

Adding Navigation

Good day mate! I'm so close to the halfway point on our game but I want to take my time and make it awesome. I've finished the Adding Navigation assignments and I'm moving on to Adding Animation... which I've already almost completed. I learned how to create buttons to move from screen to screen and it really isn't that hard. I've added motion tweening to my game and that's not hard either once you get the hang of it. Oh well, I hope everyone does ok. Oodbyegay!

Drawing In Flash

Ellohay! I am still here and doing great! I have just finished my Drawing In Flash assignments and starting in my Adding Interaction assignments. I have learned how to trace using Flash and use frames and keyframes. It is very fun and the tutorials help... trust me.I love using the brush tool because it's fun and I'm used to it. The smoothing on the brush is very fun to use and it makes everything a whole lot easier on me when I'm drawing. Flash is confusing and like I said earlier... tutorials help. Ritneyay umpedday emay astlay Ridfay... Iay inkthay. Tiay uckssay, utbay Iay otgay veroay tiay. So far in Globaloria, I've learn't how to make things move and appear, stretch and disappear, shrink and reappear, and so forth. It's very fun and I'm looking forward to the competition. Ogay Lipfay Amerascay!I've also learned how to design in Flash using smoothing and the other tools like the brush. It's just awesome! And the cool part about the smoothing is that when it's on 100, it looks kinda like Chinese or Japanese writing so I can make it look culturalistic, if that's a such word. Oh well, the last thing I want to say is... Globaloria Rules!

I otgay a ateday! Erhay amenay siay Ritneybay. He'ssay wesomeaay. Nevermind that, today I want to talk about my team's game. We are planning the game and have just finished the paper prototype. It looks pretty good and is being perfected, but I need to see what people learn from it. I guess that they are learning that everyone has their own rights to do the same thing as Lewis and Clark. It also shows how much work they really did on their journey. If it wasn't for rights, we'd all be dead. It's as simple as that. We should all be thankful for rights, even if they aren't all great. Our game is also teaching kids about who Lewis and Clark were in case anyone doesn't know. Our game connects to civics because it is about history. History and civics have a close relationship, like butter and toast, it takes history to make history I think. It will be awesome! Oh well, see ya!

I played some game on Ms. Barker's blog and learned that it depends on the situation who is right and who is wrong. I was playing as someone who was helping the justice by solving the case in court. Hello! Ellohay! I have learned to speak Pig Latin and I am good at it! It's very fun and I might use it in the game... maybe. But that's beside the point, I want to talk about our game today. We are going to call it, "Lewis and Clark: The Great Journey" and it will be about Lewis and Clark's adventure with Sacajawea across the early United States. We will research the journey and figure out what the levels will be like so the game will be very similar and realisticly close to the actual trek. It will be awesome and I hope it works great. I chose two blogs that discuss different rights and responsbilities. The Plucked Chicken's blog that I read was discussing concealed carry licenses and what is the reasons behind it. It sounded really good and is the kind of civics blog for me. Then, there's the blog that talks about educational rights. The guy who talked about education was discussing different rights students have and how they can use them, and something about a guy who's been working with the rights of education for 17 years. They both are good and both discuss different rights, which is why I picked them. Oh well, good luck everybody!

Yo! Globaloria is pretty fun, and I can't wait 'til we finish. I've had to catch up on some of my work because of Gifted, but otherwise I'm having a good time. I'm hoping to make a game as good as those games on Y8 and Andkon, which would be a great experience to me. I've always played video games and wondered how they did it and how they created it. People get on chat rooms and meet with people so they can murder them. But it can be used for other purposes. It's just like the force... it can be used for good, or for evil. The Internet doesn't have to be feared, you can use it for the greater good of mankind. It makes a huge difference what you choose to do with the Internet. Going Mad

I'm starting to lose my mind... my sanity is taking the midnight train to nowhere. That or I'm just hyper. Playing games in Globaloria is pretty fun. Havin' a blog isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Still, sometimes I can't keep up because I'm having problems with my assignment and I can't figure out what to do. Being a student has it's responsibilities and it's limits. We students have to do homework, do chores at home, and keep up with our classes to name a few. I'm just saying, we have quite a number of things to do and sometimes, those things get in the way. Not to mention we have to obey the rules. Anyways, I'm having fun in Globaloria and I hope it gets better. Oh, and remember 9/11!

My first blog post on here. Hopefully, I can create a game where you can choose what happens based on what you do. My games will definitely have action and fighting. A selection of weapons will be put and I might make cheat codes just for fun. All of this I hope to expect in Globaloria.
